Elena Molina (Madrid, 1986) is a director and screenwriter. Graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Complutense University of Madrid, she completed her studies at the Università Degli Studi di Perugia (Italy) and specialized in Creative Documentary at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) where she began to collaborate with producer Marta Andreu and director Isaki Lacuesta. She has complemented her learning with great documentary masters such as Patricio Guzmán, Frederick Wiseman, Belkis Vega, Marianne Pletscher and Nicolas Philibert.

Elena Molina uses film to explore the relationship between people and their environment, with a strong inclination towards social justice and human rights. In her works, it is common to see a poetic approach, relying on the construction of a very careful visual treatment and intimate narratives. Themes such as displacement, cultural identity, gender and freedom are constant themes in her filmography.

Her works have been selected and awarded in prestigious international festivals such as Zinebi, Visions du Réel, BFI or the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and he has presented her works in cultural spaces such as the Pompidou Center, the HAMMER Museum in Los Angeles or the CCCB in Barcelona. In 2023, she premiered her second feature-length documentary Remember My Name at the Malaga Film Festival, where he won the Silver Biznaga for the Audience Award. This project, produced by Boogaloo Films and Les Films d'Ici, in addition to receiving multiple awards at festivals such as Festival dei Popoli, Documenta Madrid, DOK Leipzig and the Atlàntida Film Fest. Her first feature-length documentary, Rêve de Mousse (2018), co-written with Isaki Lacuesta became the documentary with the highest audience in Spain that year. The magazine eCartelera named her one of the 10 documentary filmmakers to keep an eye on. 

She combines her career as a documentary filmmaker for platforms such as HBO, Movistar, RTVE and TV3, with directing commercials and music videos for brands such as Sony Classical, Red Cross and MSC. In the teaching field, she has collaborated in several editions of the Feminist Creative Documentary Workshop of the cultural center La Bonne (Barcelona), and has been a guest teacher at the Abidin Kaid Saleh Audiovisual Training School in the Saharawi refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria.
