Distribution and fees

HAMACA distributes all the pieces in its catalog in digital format nationwide and internationally. This catalogue is digitised and available for consultation by any professional or entity wishing to explore it and programme any of its pieces.

→ If you are working on a curatorial/programming project and need to view the entire catalogue, please send an email to info[at]hamacaonline.net with the subject line ACCESS FOR PROGRAMMING and an introduction to your project. An account will be created for you to be able to consult the entire archive without restrictions.

Distribution involves the international rental of works for use in cultural dissemination contexts: exhibitions, public programmes, screening cycles, festivals, cinemas, television, etc. The service includes the delivery, within the stipulated period, of a copy of the piece in the most suitable and highest quality digital format for screening. For screenings for educational or pedagogical purposes –universities, schools, colleges, lectures, training programmes, etc – a reduced fee applies.

HAMACA also offers a copy sales service for media libraries, libraries, and online repositories.

To guarantee fair remuneration and contribute to the professionalisation of contemporary audiovisual practices, HAMACA advocates and follows the following distribution rates, which have been accepted and consulted with all authors in the archive. For each distribution, the fee consists of 70% remuneration for the author and 30% for management costs.

And remember!

Behind all the videos that you can consult in the archive there are hours of dedication, technical equipment, sometimes materials are produced, travel is required, teams of different specializations participate and are hired... Sometimes these productions are financed by grants or commissions; sometimes they are made as an investment from which costs are expected to be recovered through the exhibition and distribution of the resulting films. For the authors and professionals who develop these works as a job, any dedication of their time entails a cost. For the cultural professionals who devise and coordinate programs in which to show these works, all the time they spend thinking about and organizing these activities is a cost. HAMACA works to value all the tasks, visible and invisible, that need to be done for experimental audiovisual to be produced and shown to the public, and to defend a fair remuneration consistent with the dedication they require.
