Els 5 QK's is a collective formed by Alfonso de Sierra, Luis Escribano, Ramón Massa, Ces Martí and Enric Bentz, amateur filmmakers who in 1975 joined forces to produce satirical and transgressive films against the social, religious and political conventions of the time, placing the “faggot” in the place of the hero: proud of himself, shameless, beyond good and evil.
Els 5Q K's filmography gathers dozens of films, including short, feature and medium-length films, created between 1975 and 1986 in the Barcelona of the Transition. These works resort to narrative stereotypes of fiction cinema, especially romantic comedy or westerns, as well as the popular languages of television and commercial audiovisuals, subverting the roles of the protagonists with camp, melodramatic and folkloric elements. At the time, the collective activated its own films by organizing public screenings, which were popular in the local gay scene. In the following decades the pieces were forgotten, until 2010, when some reproduction copies were rescued, which allowed them to return to circulation, especially in artistic and cultural contexts, exhibition halls and screening spaces.
