Juan Rodrigáñez


Juan Ridrigáñez (Madrid, 1971) is a Spanish filmmaker trained in American Anthropology and Literary Theory at the Complutense University of Madrid. His creative approach merges anthropological and narrative perspectives, resulting in a documentary style that explores contemporary social, symbolic, and cultural dynamics.

His film work includes A la sierra de Armenia (2008), his first short film documenting traditional communities, premiered at the Zinebi Festival in Bilbao; Der Geldkomplex (The Money Complex, 2015), a feature-length film examining the structures of symbolic and economic capital, presented in the Berlinale Forum section and screened at the Málaga Film Festival; and Derechos del hombre (2018), in which he critically explores the concept of universal rights from a social and anthropological viewpoint, premiered at FICX Gijón and FIDMarseille. In 2020, Cineteca Madrid dedicated a special focus to his work, bringing together his films and reinforcing his profile as a filmmaker committed to a hybrid vision between research and cinematic practice.
