María Marlen (Salamanca, 2000) is an artist and researcher. She holds a degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Audiovisuals, a diploma in Classical Guitar, a Master's in Advanced Studies in Artistic Production and Practices, and is currently a PhD candidate in Art History at the University of Salamanca. Her work explores popular orality through an interdisciplinary practice focused on sound, audiovisual, and installation media, with the aim of bringing folklore closer to new generations, revaluing the role of women in oral tradition, and advocating for artistic research as a legitimate form of knowledge production.

She developed the project A la fresca. Informal Modes of Relational Communication in the Sierra de Francia through the Ángel Carril Ethnographic Research Grant (2023–2024). Her work has been exhibited in spaces such as Cruce (Madrid), Condeduque (Madrid), Domus Artium 2002 Museum (Salamanca), S8 – International Peripheral Cinema Festival (A Coruña), and the Fonseca Experimental Art Space (Salamanca), among others.

She is part of the collective Laquerida, where she promotes initiatives that bring contemporary artistic practice into dialogue with the popular traditions of Salamanca. Through collaborative methodologies and research-creation processes, the collective approaches traditional practices from a critical perspective. Within this framework, she has developed exhibition projects such as La Folklórika.
