Pirates presents a portrait of three subjects who escape the gender binary identity. The film presents an analogy between the skin and the celluloid, between the surgical cuts and the sutures of the filmic body.
Pirates is an experimental film recorded with a Super 8 camera, which takes as a frame of reference Kathy Acker's novel Pussy, King of the Pirates, as well as the appropriation and cut-up methodologies employed in her literary work. The camera observes in detail three transmasculine subjects, capturing traces and memories visible through ink, tattoos and scars. A cinematographic portrait that reveals the analogy between surgical cuts and sutures of the filmic body, between skin and celluloid.
