Iván Marino (1968) works as an artist linked to the audiovisual medium, and as a teacher in different university institutions in Spain. In his professional career he has produced pieces for film, video, and interactive supports such as the Web or, more generally, the Net. His work has been exhibited in major international events and has been awarded prizes at the International Film Festival, Hannover, Germany, 1997, BHZ Brazil (Belo Horizonte, Brazil, 1995), Videobrasil (San Pablo, Brazil, 1997), Buenos Aires Film Festival (Sueños Cortos, Argentina, 2003), among others. During his career he has received grants from the foundations Rockefeller, MacArthur (USA), Fundit (Barcelona, Spain), Goethe Institut(Berlin), Fundación Antorchas (Argentiana), among other institutions. In 1997 he was invited by the Filminstitut (HDK – Hochshule der Künste, Berlin) to produce films and take courses in the documentary format. In 1997-1998 he was Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Los Angeles (Film and TV Department), where he took advanced courses in digital art and design. In 1999 he received a grant from the MECAD\Media Centre of Art and Design (Escuela Superior de Diseño, Universidad Ramón Llull) to work on research and the production of art in hypermedia formats. Since then he lives in Barcelona. At present Marino is in charge of various subjects of the BA in Electronic Art and Digital Design (ESDI\Universidad Ramón LLull). He also teaches for the International Master in System Design (Mecad\Universidad Ramón Llull), and is a collaborating professor at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona (IUA); he has given seminars in universities in Argentina (Universidad Nacional 3 de Febrero, Universidad Blas Paskal), in Colombia (Universidad de Cali, Universidad de Caldas), as well as continuing education courses for Unesco.
