Wrapped in a coat made of women's postcards, during the performance Album portable the pioneer Eugènia Balcells tributes the female genealogy -extensive and diverse-, presenting herself as part of and indebted to.
Celebrating and tucking in this device, Balcells declares: "I carry in me all the women, the known, the unknown, the young, the old, the wise, those who do not know much... I carry them all with honor and with great gratitude...".
Eugènia Balcells' work recurrently explores the criticism of the stereotyping of mass media image of men and women. In this piece, the artist resignifies the medium of images -the postcards- proposing a new constellation of relationships between them and bringing corporeality through contact with his own body.
This action was presented in 1993 at the Librería Tartessos in Barcelona and reactivated twenty years later during the exhibition Genealogías feministas en el arte español: 1960-2010 at MUSAC in León (2012-2013).
