“Secretly, and without anyone having noticed it up until now, a new trend  has taken hold of our youngsters: the vicious habit of only listening to their own heartbeats. They call themselves Heartbeaters, they suffer a altered perception  of reality, the exterior world is reduced to just an echo of their own inner spaces. This inner percussion  influences thoughts and behaviours, and is  addictive". This is the starting point of the hypertext, created by García for this project, which includes the video register of a series of actions, and a narration that grows in the internet. The video shows us a series of headless, anonymous  torsos, to which a stethoscope is applied, in order to amplify the beat of the torsos’ hearts.

This piece unfolds into infinite meanings. It allows us to reflect on our bodies’ automatic levels of perception, such as those generated by dreaming or breathing.

On the other hand, the video directly refers to the singularities of some electronic music practices of the last decade, created by some DJs in synchronicity with the heartbeat... with the unknown repercussions that this decision can have in the way that we understand reality, as well as in the power of control that is exercised over our identities.

As in other projects by the artist, reality is shown to be polymorphous and open, containing infinite veils. Steering clear of any canonical treatment of the real, García constructs from and with the narrative, transcending all the dominant dichotomies: natural-artificial, body-mind, finite-eternal...
