A woman goes up and down the stairs again and again, caught in a time spiral. The feeling of an eternal cycle is reinforced by the soundtrack of electroacoustic music. In this unique and hypnotic piece, the author, inspired by Borges’ theories of time as a mental process, immerses herself in the paradoxes between psychological and chronological time, in the thickness of the time of dreams and fables.

This is a piece that also refers to the monotony of life, to the tedious flow of days, to the unconscious rituals of survival. There is a strong poetic force, a beautiful melancholy in the image of a woman abandoned to living... fighting against her social surrounding in a race without destiny, in suspended time.

Dolores Furió is one of the most interesting artists to emerge from the generation of Spanish female artists who, in the mid-1990s, and still with scarce technical resources, start working in the field of technological art. Her work is indebted to conceptual art and the performance movements of the 1960s and 1970s. Furió’s is an original body of work within the Spanish art scene. Unlike other artistic practices of the 1990s that, like Furió, returned to the body and the video performance with a special interest in issues of gender, but who priviledged a certain aestheticism of form, the anecdote, kitsch or fiction, Furió’s work is more experimental and risky, lacking in superficiality. She concentrates the action that takes place, and lets space and time, the geometry and the light of the composition and the compromise, speak for themselves.
