Santuario [Sanctuary] is a virtual tour through a small floating world, levitating impassively somewhere between the sky and the sea. Elaborated from multiple photogrammetries taken over a year and a half, the film is composed of small fragments of reality that enjoy a special interest, either for their historical context, for having an aesthetic related to abandonment or terrain vagues, or for establishing a dialogue around deindustrialization and the landscape fossils it leaves behind.

Through 3D registration, these specific places are “frozen” and sheltered in the cloud, immune to the passage of time and immovable, indifferent to the fact that their physical version is about to disappear forever. Thus protected under the digits, the ensemble is consecrated in a sanctuary of abandonment. It gives a divine and celestial character to these forgotten spaces, all this being crossed by a plastic intention, constituting an immersive invitation to those who pass through it to a place of refuge and reflection on sensitive issues such as memory, death, or permanence.

Sanctuary has been developed in the II Call for Artistic Residencies of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, whose interactive part has been created with the help of 3D artist Diego Paredes, and whose video has a sound piece made by Lofácil (María Barrena and Carlos de Arquer) in 2024. This work was shown for the first time in the projector selection of Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturenea in collaboration with the UPV/EHU in March 2024.
