Ser Prócer recreates the typical rites of cinematic transformation —costume, hair, and makeup— required to become the National Hero. The bust, the raw expression... But beneath that skin lies a being who, with no trace of heroism, recognizes himself in the mundane image of the man (and the boy).

The piece humorously engages with excerpts from the feature film Revolución. Cruce de los Andes (2010), directed by Leandro Ipiña, in dialogue with portraits of the supposed protagonist in the midst of transformation. It was exhibited during Argentina’s Bicentennial celebrations as part of the Continent/UNTREF Commission for 7 Views on History and the Present, curated by Andrés Denegri and Gabriela Golder, in front of the Obelisk in Buenos Aires (25/5/2010).
