In 2013, Raquel Marques and María Romero filmed daily life at Encants Vells, Barcelona's historic flea market, during the last few months before it moved to a new location built to regulate the chaos of the old market. Ten years later, the filmmakers revisit these images, an archive that is part of the city's memory, to reflect on how changes in urban space interrelate with our own passage through a territory, charging it with possibilities. They thus portray a volatile landscape that reflects everyday uncertainties, specifically the constant tension between precariousness and the desire to make a home in a context that is increasingly difficult due to the demands of the real estate market. Marques and Romero bring the viewer closer to a vanished, wild, and disordered setting, searching for threads to connect the past and the present through impulses that ultimately shape the way we inhabit and dream of the city.
