Raquel Marques


Filmmaker, teacher, and trainer, she develops her work in the field of documentary creation, image pedagogy, and film education from a feminist perspective. She holds a degree in Communication Sciences from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a Master's in Creative Documentary from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). She is a member and co-coordinator of the educational projects team at Drac Màgic, a Catalan cooperative dedicated to the study and dissemination of cinema and audiovisual culture.

Among her filmography, Um mergulho em água fria (2024) stands out. It premiered at the Málaga Film Festival and received a special mention from the jury in the official documentary short film section. Another notable work is Tiempos de deseo (2020), which premiered at Doclisboa and the L’Alternativa Festival and won an award at the Alcances Documentary Film Festival. In 2023, she was one of the filmmakers selected for the 2024 Sinfonies de Ciutat Call (a project by Dones Visuals and CCCB), through which she co-directed the piece Una ciudad dentro de una ciudad with María Romero García, premiered at the D’A Film Festival (Barcelona, 2024).

In 2016, she co-directed Arreta with María Zafra, which won an award at the Zinegoak Festival and was screened at the Barcelona International Women's Film Festival, Márgenes Festival, Cinespaña Toulouse, among others. In 2010, she made her first documentary, A Casa Que Eu Quero, with Joana Frazão, a Terratreme Filmes (Lisbon) production selected to represent Portugal at DocEuropa II, screened at several festivals and showcases. She is also the author of several short films, such as Vecines, a collective piece produced by Laboratorio Reversible. Between 2016 and 2022, she created different pieces for the Arxipèlag project of the Barcelona International Women's Film Festival, including Esa cosa incontrolable que es el tiempo (2016), Miedo (2020), and Mae (2022).

She is a founding member of the analog film association Laboratorio Reversible (2014–2019), a film collective based in the Poble Sec neighborhood (Barcelona), dedicated to film experimentation and audiovisual programming in public spaces.
