Jaione Camborda (Donostia, 1983) has a recognized work as a director of audiovisual pieces shot with experimental filmic material such as Proba de Axilidade, Nimbos, Lilit or Rapa das Bestas. In these projects, Jaione chooses to film in Super 8, from the confidence in the image, the materiality and the lyrical grain. The themes of her work are usually ethnographic and reflect on the relationship between man and animal, violence and atavism.
Camborda made his feature debut with Arima, which, in addition to its screening at the San Sebastian Festival, won the Best Director Award in the New Waves section of the Seville European Film Festival and the Scanner Award at the Márgenes Festival. He has participated in several labs such as the TIFF Filmmaker Lab, The Screen Incubator or Ikusmira Berriak. His films have been screened in more than 60 countries and he has participated in renowned festivals such as Zinemaldi, Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival among others. The film O Corno (2023) has been awarded the Golden Shell at the 71st San Sebastian Film Festival.
