Taxio Ardanaz (Pamplona-Iruñea 1978) is an artist and researcher who works with the plastic manifestations generated in certain historical conflict processes to develop research based on painting and its installation component.
With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country, he has broadened his training in seminars given by artists and curators such as Itziar Okariz, Esther Ferrer, Andrés Duque, Julie Mehretu, Miroslaw Balka or Peio Aguirre. In recent years he has held residencies in Italy (Royal Academy of Spain in Rome), Iraqi Kurdistan (Amna Suraka), Cuba (Artista x Artista), Austria (Kunsthaus Bregenz), and Mexico (Oficina de Arte). He has had solo exhibitions in Bilbao: Carreras Múgica Gallery (2023, 2017); Palma de Mallorca: Pelaires Gallery (2022); Pamplona: El Sario, UPNA (2021); Madrid: Tabacalera Promoción del Arte (2017); Havana: Artista x Artista (2016) and Mexico City: Ateneo Español de México (2012). Among other group exhibitions, highlights his participation in “Complexo Colosso”, CIAJG, Guimarães, Portugal (2021).
