The Chapter of the Sea (NaCl+H2O) focuses on the natural, industrial, urban and cultural landscape of the Mediterranean salt flats where salt is extracted from seawater. The project focuses on how due to the extractive mining activity of the salt industries this territory has become a protected landscape due to its great richness and biological diversity, now classified as a Natural Park by the different Spanish and European environmental protection administrations. The images show us the landscape through details of its halophilic life, textures and materials in a journey through different scales from the microscopic to the aerial flight with a drone. The video is designed to be seen as a single-channel projection, but also as an audiovisual installation with an orthogonal audiovisual projection on the ground. The original soundtrack has been created through environmental sound recordings of the Santa Pola salt flats, which have been post-produced together with sound and machine textures created in the studio.
