Trans*Plant is a transdisciplinary project, initiated by Quimera Rosa in 2016, based on living systems and self-experimentation. It is a process that engages a body in a "human > plant" transition and uses various formats for this. The video presented here condenses the research to realize the first chlorophyll intravenous in human body and the performance realized in Kapelica Gallery in 2017.
In order to be able to be able to think of a non-anthropocentric ecology, we need to move from essence-based identities to relationship-based identities. A process of human > plant transition that includes a chlorophyll intravenous protocol, and through the fantasies, fears and judgments that this generates, opens the debate about the identity system that is at stake. A process of self-experimentation that has nothing individual, since the people who accompany her transit with her. Obtaining a pure chlorophyll molecule poses the same obstacles for the pharmaceutical and biomedical industry and the legal and health system as obtaining testosterone. It is the very stuff of life that is patented.
The biggest problem with mainstream ecology is that it is based on the notion of nature, a notion historically created to separate humanity from the rest of the universe and establish a colonial relationship with it. The culture/nature binomial structures an infinite list of other binomials of modern Western thought: man/woman, white/non-white, hetero/homo, science/witchcraft, adult/child, normal/abnormal... The second term of each binomial is associated with nature and, therefore, with the same regime of violence. By means of a heterotrophy taken to its maximum, a necropolitics is constituted that has literally decided to consume everything. Protecting nature then seems like a bad idea... It is rather curious that we have come to accept that an individual delimited by a skin envelope constitutes a living being, but that the planet as a whole is not a living organism.
