Raúl Cuevas (L'Hospitalet, 1978) has a long career in documentary filmmaking, working in the audiovisual field since 2001. With a degree in Audiovisual Communication and a Master's Degree in Creative Documentary from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), he has directed and written three feature films –Regreso a Raqqa (2022), Un lloc on caure mort (2014) and From Texas to Arbúcies (2010, Nanouk Films)– and several documentaries for television.
In his early days he developed his most creative and experimental side as a director of music videos for groups such as Sanjosex, Mazoni and Espaldamaceta. He has also worked under the orders of other directors as director, editor or director of photography, including Albert Solé, Ricardo Íscar and Mercedes Álvarez. In television he has worked on some of the most prestigious programs on Spanish television - such as Salvados, Lo de Évole, Quatre gats or 30 minuts, among others - and on the documentary series Examen de conciencia (Netflix). He has done the photography of Magaluf Ghost Town (2021), premiered in the official section of Hot Docs and winner of the Thesaloniki Festival, and the direction and editing of La última cinta desde Bosnia (2021), winner of Docs Valencia and the Mediteranean Film Festival.
